Room rates, flights, transfers, spa extras, and the hidden costs nobody mentions. A realistic budget guide for UK couples.
A week for two at Temptation Cancun starts from around $1,750 for the room alone in low season. A week at Desire Riviera Maya or Desire Pearl starts from around $2,450. Add flights, transfers, and spending money and a realistic total for a UK couple is between £3,500 and £6,000 depending on when you go, which resort you choose, and how much you spend on extras.
All three resorts are all-inclusive, so the room rate covers accommodation, all meals, all drinks (including premium spirits), entertainment, pools, beach, fitness centre, and wifi. Rates vary significantly by season and room category.
High season (December to April) commands the top rates. Low season (May to October) can drop prices by 30-40%. Booking early or watching for promotions makes a genuine difference.
Direct flights from London to Cancun typically cost between £500 and £800 per person return, depending on the time of year and how far ahead you book. Budget carriers sometimes offer lower fares, but check baggage allowances carefully. The flight is roughly 10 hours.
Cancun airport to Temptation (Hotel Zone) takes about 20 minutes and costs around $40-60 per person each way in a shared shuttle. Cancun airport to Desire resorts (Puerto Morelos area) is about 20 minutes in the opposite direction, with similar transfer costs. Premium suites at some resorts include complimentary transfers, so check your booking confirmation.
The all-inclusive package at all three resorts covers more than you might expect:
This is where budgets go sideways if you are not prepared:
For a seven-night trip flying from London, here is what to expect. Temptation in low season: around £3,500-4,500 total for two. Desire in low season: around £4,500-5,500 for two. High season adds roughly £1,000-1,500 to those figures. Spa, shopping, and excursions can add another £300-500 on top. It is not a cheap holiday, but for an all-inclusive week in the Caribbean with everything covered, the value is solid.
